Research Interests

Air pollution and climate change, Global change impacts on regional air quality, Radiative forcing of the Earth's climate due to ozone and aerosol pollution, Intercontinental transport of air pollution, Interactions between chemistry, clouds and aerosols, especially ozone and sulfate, Effects of trace gas emissions from vegetation on biosphere-atmosphere-climate interactions, Secondary organic aerosol formation, Nitrogen and sulfur deposition to ecosystems, Paleochemistry

Scientific Questions

How does atmospheric chemistry interact with climate and air quality? How will air quality be influenced by global change? How large is the aerosol indirect effect? What are the key factors driving regional climate change? What are the impacts of intercontinental transport on surface air quality? How will human activities transform the dynamical and chemical properties of the future atmosphere? How effectively can reductions in methane and tropospheric ozone mitigate global warming?
