Associate Research Scientist
Dr. Darren Engwirda is an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University’s Center for Climate Science Research (CCSR). He is interested in the development of large-scale computational models for planetary climate processes, with a focus on methods for global ocean circulation. Working alongside scientists from NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), he is contributing to the development of the GISS coupled climate model (Model-E), developing new methods to represent vertical transport processes in the ocean. He is also interested in the development of variable-resolution general circulation models based on unstructured grids and high-order accurate numerical techniques.
