His work uses a combination of observations, theory and numerical modelling. Craig is the co-ordinator of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS; NASA) sea level team and organizer of the GISS sea level seminar.
Craig has a PhD in Ocean physics from the University of Southampton and British Antarctic Survey. He has worked in Physical Oceanography Research at Massachusetts institute of Technology, University of East Anglia and University of Southampton
