Yuan Jen Lin

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Yuan-Jen Lin is a postdoctoral research scientist at Center for Climate Systems Research, Columbia University. She studies large-scale climate dynamics, with a focus on the interactions between clouds, radiation, and the ocean. She is currently working on the investigation of cloud controlling factors and cloud feedback through using observation and model simulations, aiming to develop an improved understanding of processes mediating the cloud responses under climate change.

Dr. Lin received her Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from National Taiwan University in 2022, advised by Dr. Yen-Ting Hwang. Her Ph.D. work focused on the time-evolving climate responses to greenhouse gas emissions, including changes in the ocean, SST pattern, and multiple radiative feedbacks. She investigated the uncertainty of climate feedback time evolution and demonstrated how the ocean heat uptake and changes in ocean circulation would shape the climate feedback.
