Global Food Security

Global food security is one of the most pressing challenges of our times. Little is known about the susceptibility of the global network of food trade to natural (e.g., megadroughts, volcanic eruptions) and manmade (e.g., wars, trade restrictions) disturbances. Here at the Center for Climate Systems Research, we are studying the vulnerabilities of our global food system to environmental, social, and economic pressures using state-of-the-art crop and economic models.
