NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies

NASA GISS conducts cutting-edge research on climate change prediction, atmospheric processes, and their societal impacts through analysis of global datasets and comprehensive Earth system modeling.

GISS, a laboratory in the Earth Sciences Division of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, maintains a close collaborative relationship with our Center for Climate Systems Research (CCSR). Many GISS personnel hold joint appointments with CCSR and other Columbia University departments, including the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics. This partnership provides CCSR researchers with access to NASA resources, datasets, and collaborative opportunities across the agency's Earth science programs.
