Ensheng Weng

Associate Research Scientist

Dr. Ensheng Weng is trained as an ecologist, specialized at vegetation modeling. He is also broadly interested in ecosystem ecology, paleo-climate and vegetation, and Earth system sciences. Ensheng’s research is focused on modeling vegetation dynamics and distribution at regional and global scales based on plant traits-mediated plant competition and community assemblage. Specifically, he uses mathematical and simulation modeling approaches to explore the underlying demographic and physiological processes that shape vegetation structure and dynamics in different environmental conditions. He also uses data assimilation approaches to improve model parameterization and analyze model structure and uncertainty.
